On 9-11 September 2021, the first Polish-German seminar entitled “Collateral damage? How the Corona Pandemic Affects the Political and Party Systems and the Legitimacy of Governance in Europe”, co-organised by the Polish Political Science Association (PPSA) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), Representative Office in Poland took place.
The seminar was attended on the Polish side by the following political scientists, representatives of different branches of PPSA: Prof. Roman Bäcker (Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń), Prof. Tomasz Czapiewski (University of Szczecin), Prof. Maciej Hartliński (University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn), Dr. Marcin Jastrzębski (Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz), Dr. Małgorzata Kaczorowska (University of Warsaw), Prof. Małgorzata Molęda-Zdziech (Warsaw School of Economics), Prof. Łukasz Zamęcki (University of Warsaw), Prof. Anna Pacześniak (University of Wrocław), Prof. Paulina Pospieszna, (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań), Prof. Adam Szymański (University of Warsaw), Prof. Maria Wincławska (Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń) and Prof. Arkadiusz Żukowski (University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn).
German political scientists were represented by Dr. Ernst Hillebrand (Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Warschau), Prof. Christian Krell (Hochschule des Bundes in Brühl), Prof. Wolfgang Merkel (WZB/Hertie School), Prof. Andreas Nölke (Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main), Prof. Thomas Poguntke (Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf), Prof. Susanne Schmidt (Universität Bremen) and Bastian Sendhardt (Deutsches Polen Institut).

On July 21st-25th, 2018, the 25th Jubilee World Congress of International Political Science Association took place in Brisbane, Australia.
It gathered more than 2 thousand scientists from around the world (2,400 scientists were expected). Exactly, from 2,351 registered participants 2,239 attended in the Congress (in comparison to the IPSA World Congress in Poznań in 2016 from 2,729 registered participants 2,239 attended). The participants from 84 countries were represented at the Congress (at the IPSA World Congress in Poznań in 2016 - 92 countries). The IPSA World Congress Programme featured 4 plenary sessions, 6 special sessions, 1 award session and 516 panels (total number of panel proposals was 936).

We would like to remind you that in November 1957, the Polish Political Science Association was established in Warsaw as the first political science association in Central and Eastern Europe and one of the first in the world.

Polish Political Science Association (PPSA) was established in 1957, but Poland is a member of International Political Science Association (IPSA) since 1950. PPSA is the only one association grouping the political scientists in the country.
PPSA has 18 branches in Polish cities and within the association functions 10 research sections. PPSA co-publishes two periodicals which have an acknowledged scientific reputation: quarterly "Athenaeum. Polish Political Science Studies" (two issues in English in a year), http://www.athenaeum.umk.pl/podstrony/english.html and "Polish Political Science Yearbook" which became a quarterly journal and is a leading peer-reviewed Central European journal of political science, international relations, public policy and security studies, being published since 1967, http://www.marszalek.com.pl/yearbook/
PPSA every year organises theoretical and methodological workshops as well as awards a prize for the best PhD thesis in political science. Since the beginning PPSA representatives are strongly represented in political science international associations, now e.g.: member of IPSA Executive Committee, member of European Consortium of Political Science Associations Executive Committee, member of Central European Political Science Association (CEPSA) Executive Committee, member of European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) Executive Committee, Central European Political Science Association (CEPSA) National Representative, chair of IPSA RC 13, chair of IPSA RC 21, vice-chair of IPSA RC 12, vice-chair of IPSA RC 14 and members of Executive Boards of other IPSA RCs.
Poland hosted the 24th World Congress in Political Science in Poznan (23-28 July 2016) with almost 3,000 participants from 99 countries.
PPSA will co-organise 22nd Annual Conference of CEPSA at Wroclaw University entitled "Integration versus Disintegration? CEECs towards European Union and its challenges" (14-15 September 2017), http://www.cepsa-conference.uni.wroc.pl
PPSA warmly invites to take part in the 4th Polish Congress of Political Science at the Faculty of Political Science of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (18-20 September 2018). The main topic will be "The State during the period of changes".
